Choose a starting point
- From Scratch: adjust the Mii yourself in detail.
- Get Help: answer questions to generate a starting character.
- Console Mii: use a face saved in the console’s Mii Maker as a base.
You can then customize the resident’s appearance, voice and personality, including face-paint details.
Edit a resident you already made
- Press X → Residents.
- Select the Mii.
- Choose the field you want to edit.
- Make the change, then press B to return to the resident list when finished.
Check the resident’s profile and appearance to see the result. For personality recipes, use the personality chart.
Gender and dating preferences
Gender options include male, female and non-binary. Dating preferences can include more than one gender, or none.
Preferences affect who can develop romantic relationships. Changing eligibility can remove crushes, sweethearts and marriages involving that resident, so read the confirmation carefully. Real-world relationship settings do not instantly create a matching relationship on the island.
What can be imported
You cannot directly import a complete 3DS Tomodachi Life or Miitopia character into Living the Dream. A Miitopia face can first be copied to the console’s Mii Maker and used as a base, but makeup and wigs do not transfer with it.
Living the Dream residents cannot be exported back to the console’s Mii Maker or other games. Sharing a resident with another Living the Dream island uses Local Play instead.
