Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Mii Sharing: Local Play & Restrictions

At a glance

Mii and creation sharing uses local wireless between two nearby consoles. Let the first two Miis become friends to unlock Local Play, update both games to the same version, then open X → Local Play to connect.

Before you connect

  • Use two nearby consoles running Living the Dream.
  • Let your island’s first two Miis become friends to unlock Local Play.
  • Install the same game version on both consoles.
  • To exchange Palette House creations, both players must have Palette House unlocked.
  • Leave room for any Mii you plan to receive.

Send or receive a Mii

  1. Save your game and open X → Local Play.
  2. On your first visit, read the community information and follow the save/confirmation prompts.
  3. Have one player choose Look for another player.
  4. Have the other player select them and join.
  5. The sender chooses a Mii or creation and selects Send.
  6. The receiver selects Receive → OK.
  7. End Local Play, then build a home for a new resident when prompted.

The original Mii or creation stays on the sender’s island.

Received content cannot be forwarded

You can share content originally created on your own island. Content received from someone else cannot be sent onward, even after editing it or using it as the base for another Mii or creation.

Internet sharing and QR codes

The game does not support sending Miis or items over the internet. A picture, a face tutorial or a QR code posted online is not a downloadable resident for this game.

The original 3DS QR-code system and complete Miitopia character imports are not alternatives to Local Play in Living the Dream.

If an exchange fails

Check the facility requirements, both game versions, available resident space and the island/player names. Restricted text or numbers in names can prevent sending content.
